One of the reasons I'm not posting here quite so regularly at the moment is that I have a fair bit to write for university. Indeed, the various subjects I'm undertaking there at the moment want me to rant freely about various topics in exchange for credit points. That being the case, perhaps I can publish some of that ranting here, if it seems appropriate enough (for some values of "appropriate" and "enough"). This would enable me to kill the proverbial two birds with one stone, in addition to which it could allow me to get university work done by writing for Nutters.org. An attractive idea, that.
To this end, I have decided to create a new document category: the "Reactionary Rant". This is not reactionism in the sense of extreme conservatism, but rather a rant which is specifically in reaction to some other publication. On a site other than Nutters.org, this might be known as a "reaction paper". I seem to have drifted down this path on a couple of occasions already, and so I've reclassified the documents Are Anti-Spam Policies Censorship? and The Executable Net as Reactionary Rants rather than Random Rants, since they were appropos of other people's specific published opinions or ideas, and not really random as such.
I'll have at least one more Reactionary Rant online by Friday this week, since that's the university-imposed deadline. It will relate to micropayments, and with any luck I'll be able to tie up some other loose ends (to some extent) whilst I'm about it.
