I think there must be something seriously wrong with my sleeping patterns. This is unremarkable given my current status as a BSc honours student and the never-ending stream of little deadlines that I have to meet, but it's clearly starting to take its toll. Allow me to explain.
This morning I had a dream, and in that dream I had an important epiphany. For some reason or other, my mind wandered back to my early childhood memories of watching The Krofft Supershow. Yes, it was aired here in Australia too. In particular, for some reason, I remembered "Turkey" from "Kaptain Kool and the Kongs", and a particular incident where he announced that he was going off to do something outlandish. The rest of the cast laughed at him and said, "you're such a turkey," but were then stunned when his outlandish scheme worked.
Then inspiration hit me: Turkey was the Kramer of the seventies!
Whatever my brain is trying to tell me, I don't think it's good. And I don't even like Seinfeld. I liked The Krofft Supershow, though. On the YesterdayLand page to which I linked earlier, there are many pages of reader reminiscences about Supershow, including a remarkable number of people who are my age, give or take a couple of years. (I'll 'fess up: I was born in 1970.) Many of them were, of course, drooling over the female element in the show — especially "Electrawoman and Dynagirl". For me, though, the attraction was the fantasy element, which all the Krofft shows seemed to have in ready supply.
